A return to our roots to move forward
Today, Domaine des Clos is everything we dreamed it would be over twenty-five years ago
When we discovered this derelict building, we fell under the spell of this former 18th-century wine estate and its potential. We thought long and hard about our project and dared to take the plunge. We left Paris behind and gradually gave up our respective careers, Sandrine with a communications agency and David with an American audit firm. Full of hope, we (re)left for our native region with our children, Mathilde and Alexis, under our arms to bring this farmhouse back to life.
Our choice was pure madness, but our dream of Provence, of seeing our children grow up in a preserved environment and being together, was the strongest. We wanted to return to the way of life in which we had grown up and to have a common professional project where our skills would complement each other.
We became builders. Year after year, we patiently restored the entire estate, David taking it in turns to be the site manager, gardener and financier, Sandrine the painter, decorator, receptionist, cook and public relations manager.
We opened a small part of the building as a guest house in April 1997 and, the following season, our youngest daughter Capucine was born and joined our "dream team"
he children and the trees are growing. The estate is growing. Work and decoration were carried out slowly, with the same attention to detail and the same quest for harmony and authenticity.Everything has to be pleasant, friendly, functional, airy and spacious so that you can make your own, the cosy cocoon of your holidays in Provence.
The Domaine became a Hôtel de charme in 2007 and a 4-star hotel in 2018, while retaining its family home feel...
The Domaine des Clos has come back to life and is now dressed in its finest. It had its hour of glory at the beginning of the 20th century. At that time, it had 200 hectares of vines and the wine was made in the magnificent cellars that are now our storerooms.Several families lived on site: a farmer, the grape-pickers and a blacksmith, whose forge we still have today. The cellar master lived in the building where our bedrooms are today, and the groom lived above the stables where we serve home-cooked breakfasts and table d'hôtes
Today, the estate is buzzing with your comings and goings. Some of our guests have become regulars. We see their children grow up, and when they become parents, they come to the Domaine des Clos with their little ones. It's their four-star holiday home... and the gamble's paid off.
